Woolly Wormhead Sideways Saturday

Saturday 25th November - 10am to 5pm - Purlescence HQ - £75

Woolly Wormhead, outstanding designer, knitter, and tutor is bringing her talents to Purlescence for a weekend of workshops in November.

This full day workshop looks at the very popular sideways construction technique

Woolly Wormhead is a hat designer so naturally we'll be looking at how sideways construction works with hats. But all the techniques you will learn are equally valid for other garments and projects too.

  • You’ll work through a number of different techniques, including short rows, provisional cast on and kitchener stitch (garter).

  • You’ll discuss how this construction method affects gauge and look at the maths involved

  • You’ll also look at how turning your knitting through ninety degrees can affect stitch patterns and increase and decreases

  • You’ll discuss how to make that work to your advantage

Later in the day, armed with your new knowledge, you’ll work towards designing your own sideways knit hat.

This is the sister workshop to Seamless Sunday - Your In Depth Guide to Grafting and Short Rows that Woolly is teaching on Sunday 26th. These two days go hand in hand, so it's well worth the treat.
