I smell flannel!

Most excellent good news, people! This Sunday has been declared an International Pyjama Day.

The last time Celia did one of these, I only heard about it the day after. Not this time. I am prepared. It’s in the diary. I’m busy thinking about where my clean pjs are and whether I have time to buy new ones. (I could use ‘em. (More) big snuggly flannel ones. In, um, a larger size.) Also plotting the knitting, the tv viewing and the provisions. These things don't just happen, you know. One must be properly prepared.

Armin’s on night shift, so he’ll be having a pyjama day by default, but I don’t really think that counts. It’ll be up to me and Jemima to ensure sufficient pyjama dedication in our household. I think we’re up to it. How about you?

Now, I suppose one should liveblog one's pyjama day. But for me, it wouldn't be a true pyjama day if I switched on the computer. So I'll report back on Monday. See you on the other side!

PS: Ooh, look at the weather forecast. Great timing!

Let's twist again...

Okay okay, I should just stop with the silly wordplay already. At least until I can think of something a bit wittier.

I just wanted to point out that the new Twist Collective is up. Wow. Love it all. But especially the Sylvi coat - aren't you just desperate to make this?

...and Vivian (see the way the cables organically shift and expand on the front to create shaping? *so* up my alley), and Dietrich, and Broderie... yup... pretty much love it all.

In fact it's so brilliant, I wish to lodge a complaint. How's a girl supposed to find time to design anything for herself, with all this temptation in her way? How? How? What about my fledgling Brilliant Career*? Huh? Tch. Some people, so thoughtless.

* There's actually an interview with "designer Robynn Weldon" in the new Let's Knit. I feel like a bit of a cheat, with my single published pattern, but it was fun.

Lentils again

You may remember I talked, ages ago, about the experience of eating wholesome food and how it sometimes just seems to go on a bit longer than you'd like? And how that was like knitting a lace shrug? "Dear god, am I still knitting this?"

Well, it's also like knitting a lace scarf.

This lace scarf, to be precise.
alhambra.jpg

It's Anne Hanson's Alhambra, in Suri Blue. It's a lovely, simple, graceful pattern. The yarn is gorgeous. The colours are fabulous. (Though I'm not entirely sure they all know the value of teamwork. Those yellow flashes are maybe a bit distracting. Hm. The jury's out.) I'm kind of sick of it, though.

I had the same problem with the Lace Ribbon scarf, although there was a lot less of that. I think I'm just not cut out for knitting scarves (or rectangular-y shrugs, for that matter). I can only be entertained by the stitch pattern for so long, and then, come on! Don't you have some shaping for me? Can't we mix it up a bit? Is this really going to be just miles and miles of the same old stitchery? Oh dear.

Probably a concern, then, that I've promised Armin not one, but TWO scarves. And would quite like some more myself. They're so darn useful, scarves. Warm! Pretty! Um, warm!

Really boring though.

So you might think that by way of contrast, if nothing else, I'd be reaching in great delight for my other WIP, the Baby Surprise Jacket.

I mean it's small, intriguingly shaped... if not instant gratification, it's surely pretty damn quick gratification, right? And the yarn is lovely. (Trust me on this. Don't trust my cameraphone. Trust me. Gorgeous Indigo Moon sock yarn in Wasabi and Autumn Harvest.) There's nothing not to like. And I don't dislike it. But... it's just not lace, you know?

I really am in a lace frame of mind. And I'm so loving the Suri Blue. It's beautiful, and warm, and light, and totally lovely. And I'm using Ed Jenkins needles, oh my. I tell you, slipping those smooooth points through laceweight alpaca is really almost salaciously delicious. It's such a pleasure.

And yet I'm bored.

Is this also just a pregnancy thing, I wonder? I lost all interest in the projects I had on the go before the dread first trimester blahs - two pairs of perfectly innocent, well-intentioned socks, not to mention a nearly-done sweater, all got tossed aside ruthlessly. Just couldn't be bothered, as much as I did try. (And this is very not like me. My old monogamous habits die hard; I may have given in to promiscuous knitting, but I finish what I start, dammit.)

Anyway, maybe I just have a short attention span. Maybe I need to focus on tiny little pretty things. Lace baby jackets, for instance. Shouldn't that be getting all my hormones pumping right now?

Eh.

I want lace for ME.

Pregnant, but apparently... still selfish.

*gasp* Back at last!

I love you, blog! Don't ever leave me again!

Wait. You're thinking, huh? Us, leave? *You're* the one who went away, missy!

Well, I wasn't talking to you, Dear Reader. I was talking to the *blog*. It was hiding from me. Hiding! And now it's back! Oh joy!

Wait. Deep breath. Calm down. Explain...

We've had some (ahem) Server Issues. (Those words. How they displease me.) Essentially, our host company was sold, and the new provider moved some stuff around, and everything went a bit squiffy for a while. It was pretty nerve-wracking, but the worst part was that while it was happening - and even for about a week after everything seemed to have calmed down - I couldn't blog about it, because the blog was hiding! No really. Nobody could find it. Not the host, not nobody. It was all very perplexing. And did I mention nerve-wracking?

Anyway. As you can see, we seem to be back on track. The shop's working too - although it's more than likely that there are still a few wrinkles to be straightened out; we're working on things as we find them. Please, please email or leave a comment if you see anything at all that doesn't look quite right to you. (The most common problem is broken graphics, to give you an idea of the sort of problem we're talking about.)

And now that I'm back, and have explained the situation, well, maybe I'll have a chance to talk about some knitting soon. Wouldn't that be nice? I've been doing some, you know. Not a lot. But some. I even took some pictures. Then I had Phone Issues and lost them. (Seriously. I'm thinking Hephaistos, god of technology (more or less), has it in for me for some reason.) Maybe I'll take some more.

*sigh*
