needles & hooks
We believe these knitting needles and crochet hooks are the best you can buy — warm, smooth, strong and most of all, beautiful. The highly polished surface of hardwood enables fast, even knitting but retains slightly more grip than metal, making it ideal for working with slippery yarns, in particular.
Warning: these tools are highly addictive. After trying them, you might find it very difficult to go back to metal or plastic.
Which to choose? Brittany’s birch needles are elegant, lightweight workhorses with more grip than the exotic woods and fairly rounded tips. Lantern Moon features an incredible, glass-smooth finish; ebony is the smoothest of all, but blond wood is the most robust and recommended for the tiniest sock needles. Colonial’s straight needles are the smallest you’ll find and their gorgeous interchangeable set offers fantastic value. And Ed Jenkins is famous for his fabulous, pointy-tipped and super-smooth lace needles and crochet hooks.

bags
What makes a perfect knitting bag? Space, first — it has to fit needles and yarn as well as your wallet, keys and the rest. Then plenty of pockets to keep all that clutter under control. Engineering is the next hurdle: will it stand up on its own, and stay open? How will it close without a yarn-snagging zip? And finally, of course, it has to look absolutely stunning.
The solutions we’ve collected here are very different, but all rather fabulous — which is your favourite?

yarn
Our favourite yarny treats: exquisite colourways in luxurious fibres... resistance is futile! We’ve divided our yarns into sock, lace and more; this refers more to the type of project you’re likely to use it for than the weight. You can also browse by yarn company.
